The signing ceremony for the project of the Chinese production base and headquarters of German company Carbonauten, specializing in carbon-negative materials, took place on August 2nd, marking the official establishment of the project in XianNing, Hubei Province.
Carbonauten is a cutting-edge, innovative, high-tech enterprise from Germany dedicated to carbon neutrality. Its products have gained widespread application in the European market and play a pivotal role in the carbon-neutral initiatives of numerous globally renowned corporations.
The first phase of the project aims to produce up to 200,000 tons of various types of bio-based carbon-negative composite materials annually, along with 16 million liters of bio-stimulants for plant growth and no less than 160 Gwh of renewable energy (thermal, electrical, and hydrogen energy), contributing to a carbon credit of over 100,000 tons.
XianNing, renowned as one of the nine major bamboo-producing regions in China, boasts a current bamboo forest cover of 120,000 hectares and an impressive stock of 220 million individual bamboo plants. This region is often referred to as the "Bamboo Village of Southern Hubei." The recently signed agreement with Germany's Carbonauten primarily involves the development of products centered around bamboo, which will find wide-ranging applications in the food, materials, and green renewable energy sectors.
"Choosing XianNing, Hubei as the ultimate location for this project is attributed firstly to the favorable business environment here and secondly to the abundant bamboo resources in the locality," remarked Josef Guan, the China Affairs Director of Carbonauten.
Mayor Yang Jun of XianNing stated that Carbonauten is a well-known company in the field of environmental protection technology and new material innovation. With its advanced technology in carbon-negative material production, the company's primary use of bamboo as raw material supports the comprehensive utilization of bamboo – including its stems, roots, leaves, and chips – thereby enhancing bamboo resource efficiency while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions.
This aligns seamlessly with XianNing's development vision, direction, and strategy. XianNing aims to benchmark international standards, fostering a top-tier business environment characterized by market orientation, rule of law, and internationalization, thereby propelling the project to commence, produce, and deliver results early on. This endeavor contributes to a win-win scenario of ecological preservation and economic development.
